Trying to get close enough to pet the sheep.
For dinner, we drove to Hays to eat at a new brewery, Gella's. They are putting a lot of effort in to revitalizing downtown. It looks totally different from when Michael and I went to Fort Hays State. There wasn't a lot on the menu Tate could have, but I decided on spaghetti. When his food finally came, the rest of us were almost finished eating; he was excited because it came in a paper car. I'm not sure if he had more fun playing with the spaghetti or the car! What you can't see are all of the noodles hanging off the high chair. Sunday after Tate and Michael fed the animals, we went with Michael to search for deer antler sheds. We went on the other side of the Smokey Hill River. There are SO many wild turkeys- at least 100! While we were walking, they started to fly over us. I didn't get a very good shot of them because I was afraid they were going to poop lol!
Tate and I weren't much help. I was busy taking pictures and Tate was too busy playing with a... well, a hollow thing resembling a stick! I think it was some Johnson grass, a noxious weed in Kansas, but I don't actually know. It kept breaking off as Tate hit things with it.

Daddy found some Turkey feathers.
Sunday was also the start of Walk Across Kansas. My team of 6 is made up of my mom, my sister, my brother, my sister-in-law, Michael and me. I actually started last Monday, after all it was the first of the month no need to wait until the official start date. I trekked up to the top of the hill we call Mt. Everest. Who says Kansas is flat? The picture doesn't really show a lot because it was taken with my phone.view from the bottom

beautiful lovely KS! that farm doesn't look as flat as most western KS. Love the turkey feather pic! Looks like he didn't quite know what to do with it :)
ReplyDeleteNow why do they put it in a car?! lol- you know toddlers won't eat their food because they'll be playing with the car ;-)
ReplyDeleteEthan learned how to squeeze his nose a few weeks ago. He'll squeeze it anytime we say "honk, honk". It's really funny and he cracks up too.
