Day 116: April 26- It has been a tradition since I was in high school to throw my dad in the pool on or around his birthday. It has been going on since about 1993, with I think only 2 misses. He is currently the assistant coach for the Hutchinson High School girls' swim team. Of course, all 4 grandkids each want their chance to swim with Papa too.

Day 117: April 27- We celebrated my dad's birthday with dinner, cupcakes and homemade ice cream. The adults laughed until we cried and the cousins had a great time playing.
Day 118: April 28- Apparently, I did not take a picture all day!

Day 119: April 29- What a bloody mess! We played outside after work and had fun. After we went inside, things went down hill. Dinner was supposed to be cooked on the grill, but Michael was late getting home from work. But, it takes both parents to grill and watch a busy toddler. Tate decided to throw most of his peas and carrots on the floor. Then what was left on his tray got shoved in the holes of his crocs.
After dinner, I went to the bathroom and Tate followed me in. He always goes straight for the shower so he can stop in the standing water. I heard my razor drop, but didn't think anything about it. It usually falls when he's jumping around in there. Then he came over and laid his head down on my knees. His hand was wet on my thigh, but he just came from the shower. When I reached for the toilet paper, I realized it was not water on his hand but blood! He had cut his thumb on my razor, which has 3 blades. Talk about your mommy guilt!!!

It was really difficult to hold his thumb to stop the bleeding while trying to wipe my leg and pull up my pants. I knew it wasn't deep enough to get stitches and there was just a flap of skin barely attached, so my main concern was trying to stop the bleeding. Tate didn't cry at all! He was breathing through the pain, something my mom taught him. I called her and asked her to help him breath. She suggested putting ice on it to help stop the bleeding.

I had planned on just putting a band-aid on it, but I could not get the bleeding to stop. My mom came over to help. She told me we were going to have to wrap it in gauze. Michael just had his wisdom teeth pulled not that long ago, so I knew we had some tiny gauze pads. The problem was finding them. Then once I found them, I discovered we didn't have any tape. (Time to invest in a first aid kit!) My mom thought they had some at the house, so I called my dad to check and they did. (I should mention this is a faster option than running to the store since we only live about 4 blocks from my parents' house.) We got his tiny little thumb all wrapped up and all is well.

Day 120: April 30- Tate and Julianna got to hang out together all day at Mimi's house. She prefers walking on her knees. I just love her snaggle-tooth smile- still no front teeth on top, just they canines.

While stuffing cloth diapers Friday evening, Tate wanted me to put one on his new Buzz doll. It was too funny not to document!
