My birthday weekend

For my birthday, we scheduled a full weekend of family activities! On Saturday (Day 191: July 10), Michael, Tate and I went to Wichita. A local theatre was showing movies to law enforcement officers and their families free of charge. Since our local theatre didn't offer Toy Story 3 in 3-D, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to see it. When we got there, the sign said it was showing in 2-D and when we went to get our tickets, they were gone! We had been promising Tate he was going to see Woody. Now what?! On our way to another theatre to catch an early matinee, Michael's best friend called and said they were opening up another showing of Toy Story and this one was 3-D. Luckily, we were only a few minutes away so he grabbed us tickets. Whew!
Tate loves Woody and I was so afraid he was going to start screaming with excitement when he saw him on the screen. He sat on my lap the entire time and barely moved. He wore the glasses the whole time too. He jumped a few times when he got scared. I asked if he wanted me to take the glasses off and he said no. There were a few times too when Woody got into trouble that he said, "NO! NO!" Fortunately it wasn't even loud enough for Michael to hear.
After lunch, we went to Tanganykia Wildlife Park. It was so hot! Most of the animals weren't very active because of the heat. Tate wanted to feed and pet all the animals. The penguins were huddled in the shade and Tate kept telling them to "GO!" and pointing at their swimming pool.

Watching the kangaroos before attempting to jump like them.
Feeding the ring-tail lemur an expensive $1 craisin.
He had napped on the trip over, but it didn't take long after we left for this to happen:
It was a good thing too because we still had more to do. Michael's Fraternal Order of Police Union had their annual barbecue. Tate went swimming and did a little fishing in the pond.
On Sunday (Day 192: July 11), we spent a lazy morning at home. Michael's cousin had just started working a few hours away, so we spent most of the day with TJ and his girlfriend. That evening, we went over to my parents' house for dinner. We had some of my favorites: corn on the cob, scalloped potatoes and barbecue chicken. My niece, Julianna gave us several good laughs. First, she kept eating off Michael's plate. Then we loved the way she ate her corn; when it got too hard to hold to eat, she rested on the table while she ate it.
