We also took the kids to the Kansas Kids Museum. They had a celebration with games, the police and fire departments in the parking lot and free admission to the museum. They had the hook and ladder truck all the way extended, which Tate loved. Daddy said he could only get his picture taken in the police car.
A local pumpkin patch had their "train" giving free rides. I let Tate ride by himself. I told him to hold on and not to let go. He actually listened because he wouldn't even let go to wave at us! He cried the whole way home because he wanted to ride the "woo-woo" again.
Day 220: August 8- We went to visit my granparents on the farm. The first thing we noticed it the tree in the driveway. My mamaw has had a rule for several years now that no one is allowed to park under it any more and for good reason. One of the two remaining branches finally gave way in the wind and rain. We have no idea how old it is, but the trunk is huge! I guess we'll have to count the rings because she finally gets her wish and the whole thing is coming down.
One of the goats had twins and Tate got to hold them. Here he is trying to figure out how to put the ear tag on it.
The goat talked to him and he thought it was pretty funny.
We helped Mamaw gather eggs from the chicken coop and had a good scare. None of us noticed a hen still sitting on her eggs until she started squawking at us. Mamaw and I jumped and Tate started screaming. He was already a little nervous because another hen had flown off her nest and was pacing and clucking at us from the other side. I was really surprised when he ended up sticking his hand in the box any way to get the eggs.
After our heart rates returned to normal, we helped pick tomatoes from the garden. While Mamaw and I were discussing her pepper plants, Tate discovered the mud puddle Papaw had made earlier. It was only the second time he had worn his tennis shoes and what better way to break them in. Apparently the water puddles he jumped in at the zoo the first time he wore them didn't do the trick. :o)

I bet the cry to ride the Woo Woo was more like a fit? That's what Ethan would do :-)
