Tate is into transportation right now, specifically rockets and trains. He got Thomas the Train from Santa. He loves setting up the track, but will run the trains without it. For Valentine's Day, we got him some more cars to go with his 2 engines. We kept the sheet that lists all the names of the trains just as a reference. That was a MISTAKE!! He pointed at everything on the sheet, "Tate want that! Tate wants that!" Michael told him maybe the Easter Bunny would bring him more trains. That didn't help because then he kept saying, "Easter Bunny bring Tate this. Easter Bunny bringing Tate that."
We are lucky enough to have a fabulous Smithsonian affiliated museum in town. The Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center not only exhibits artifacts, but also restores them. Since we went to the Cosmosphere last December, Tate loves talking about spaceships, rockets and blast offs. He even switched his favorite Toy Story character from his beloved Woody to Buzz "Light cheer" Space Ranger.
Last Saturday, to promote their new exhibit, To The Moon: Snoopy Soars with NASA, they had all sorts of activities. There were craft projects, experiments and of course, a moonwalk! You could also purchase tickets to eat snacks with Snoopy, which we chose not to do. Tate made a straw rocket, which we could never get to work, a Snoopy button and his favorite, a command module.
There were TVs on the wall showing "blast offs!"
Catching his command module with Uncle Swan.
He wanted his cousin, Drew, to catch it the next time.
He was nervous in the moonwalk. There were older kids in there bouncing pretty high and making the whole thing shake.
While I'm promoting my hometown, we have another pretty awesome museum, the Kansas Underground Salt Museum. If you are ever in Central Kansas, both are worth checking out. I think they offer ticket deals to see both museums. Tate has seen pictures and wants to go down, but you have to be 4. They have artifacts beyond salt mining. Original film reels from Hollywood, props and other important things are stored underground.
My brother and me from our visit in April 2009. They tell you not to lick the walls, so we thought it would make a fun picture pretending to. :oP

That's hilarious, "Tate wants!" hahaha!!! We haven't gotten to that.... yet.
ReplyDeleteI think Ethan would have liked the space exhibit too! Elmo is coming to town the first of March and he loves Elmo so I was trying to get ahold of someone to see if I could get tickets through my blog. So far no luck, but I'll have to buy tickets anyway if I can't ;-)
