Spring on the Farm

Last weekend, we visited my grandparents' farm. It showed all the signs of spring: lots of green foliage, flowers, and baby animals.
I love lilacs! There are probably 20 lilac bushes on the farm. They are old, so they are huge. It is so beautiful and smells so good! I can't wait for my other favorite flowers to bloom, peonies.
Tate and my nephew, Drew, loved checking out (chasing) the lambs.
They finally got close enough to pet one. They would've gotten closer, but they are reaching over an electric fence. Don't worry it isn't on!! I didn't tell them because I know they would have tried to wrangle it.
Getting ready to gather eggs. He was excited, until we got to the chicken coop...
Tate: "I no like it in there!"
Me: "Don't you want to gather the eggs?"
Tate: "No, just want see the baby chick."
He spilled his ice cream all over his pants on the way home from visiting Mamaw in the hospital. When we got back to the farm, I took them off outside.
Me: "Let's go get some clean pants on."
Tate: "No, Mommy!"
Me: "Yes, you need pants on because it is kind of chilly."
Tate: "We at the farm. I no need pants on!"
At that point, I was laughing so hard, he won the argument. There is another reason this story is so funny to me. My grandparents have a neighbor whom my Papaw has nicknamed the "Squire." Once the weather warms up, the Squire does all of his yard work in a speedo and boots... that's it. Not a big deal, he's in his yard; however, he also visits his neighbors in the same attire!

  1. I can't stop laughing about the no pants!!

Is that a white lilac? I LOVE lilacs and peonies but I have never been successful planting either :-/ My mom and grandma have always had beautiful ones. Next time we move I'm going to do my research on them and see what I'm doing wrong and attempt to plant them again!
