Project 366: Day 1 & 2

In 2010, I tried to take a picture every day during Project 365. I started late and ended early. It was such a good way to document the little things that happen in life. It also helped track Tate's growth. I totally forgot about it last year. Now it's a new year and I'm going to try it again. I saw several other blogs calling it "Project 366" and in for a blond moment I was confused, "how did they get an extra day?!" *palm to forehead* 2012 is a leap year!
I have officially caught the Pinterest bug. (Thanks, mom!) I received a men's t-shirt for Christmas that is too big and I have been looking for ideas to re-fashion it into a t-shirt dress. I want something appropriate for a 30-something mother of 2. Most of the dresses I have seen are for co-eds and while they are cute, I wouldn't feel comfortable in a halter top dress, especially at work.
While searching, I found a ton of t-shirt dresses for little girls. I found one that instantly reminded me of my niece, Lily, a tutu dress! She personally takes credit for the recent boom in tutu fashion. I was going to make a different dress for my niece, Julianna's birthday, but she saw the tutu dress and decided she would rather have that.
So Saturday morning, we went shopping for a t-shirt and some tulle.
She isn't a girly-girl, so I was surprised by what she chose.
I worked on the dress off and on all day Saturday. I almost had it finished, but decided to wait to finish it. So Sunday, she got her birthday present a day early.
 Day 1: Julianna's 3rd birthday present- "I a fancy pwincess!"
Lily saw Julianna's dress and quickly reminded me I owed her a tutu. She was absolutely correct. Some time in the last two years and on for some occasion, we gifted Lily a homemade tutu, but we never got around to making it. Hobby Lobby had tulle on sale, so we made a quick trip back for her to pick her colors. She also decided that she wanted a tutu this year too. Since her birthday is in February, she chose Valentine colors for this year's present. I also found some heart socks that I made in to a pair of leg warmers for her.
Lily's choices for the IOU tutu.
Finished product- she was much too busy to model for me.
Now, I am totally jealous and wondering if I am too old to have my own t-shirt tutu dress!
Since we are on the topic of fashion, I have come to the conclusion I should not be allowed to have pretty things. I took off jacket yesterday and saw that I had ripped the sleeve on my shirt. I have no idea how it happened, but it is the fourth article of clothing that I have issues with in the past several months! I wash them all on the delicate or hand wash cycle on my HE washing machine and either hang them to dry or dry very low in the dryer. I seriously do not know how my cute clothes keep getting holes in them! Maybe because I live and play with 3 boys.
Day 2: Fashion mishap
See how cute it was before I ripped it?
