Satanta Day

Michael is from a small town in southwest Kansas, Satanta (pronounced Sah-tan-ah). The second Saturday in May they have a community celebration, Satanta Day... yes, just one day. It is supposed to be a homecoming of sorts. All class reunions are scheduled on that day. There are also kids activities, breakfast, picnic, parade, a small carnival and a turtle race.
Day 133: Satanta Day 2012
Kids races downtown: 3-legged race with his cousin Jace
Race for 2-4 yr olds- he would have won if he hadn't stopped to look at Michael!
Catching Tootsie Rolls with his buddy Hayden.
(Hayden's sister, Morgan, threw them extra.)
He was so funny trying to grab candy and shove it in his pockets... or his mouth!
The parade had 100 entrants since it was the 100th year. It got pretty long and boring. They spaced out the participants so the announcer could talk... a lot! :)
Mayer wasn't going after candy, but he was picking up trash.
Turtle race
Playing in the park before more kids activities started.
Hula hoop roll- Tate didn't win until his opponent was...
this little guy! But when he finally did win, they gave him a dollar!
Egg toss with Uncle Mark. He earned $2 for this activity.
Folding his cash...
and shoving it as far as he could into his pocket!
Daddy was in charge of pictures for the football toss. He took about 10 pictures and there isn't one of Tate's face!

I thought Mayer would be excited to throw a football, but I couldn't convince him to do it.

Cherry limeade sno-cone
Mayer missed out.
They put coins in a sand pile and let the kids gather as much as they could. For the 0-3 yr olds, they just set it on top of the sand.
Tate was one of the older ones and gathered so much his hands were full!
Counting it out to Grandma.
Rides uptown* at the carnival- I love my nephew Gage's face!!
(* I have no idea why it is called "uptown" and not "downtown." It is something that has bothered me for the last 12 years and no one has been able to explain to me why.)
.
Mayer wasn't too sure about the firetruck. He just kept leaning back
Tate won a stuffed animal for popping a balloon with a dart. He is so proud of that silly thing and has to sleep with it every night! :)
Day 134: Mother's Day
One of these days I will figure out the proper settings on my camera!
