Boosters

When I was researching car seats before Tate was born, I chose to go with a convertible car seat, the Britax Marathon. I chose it for multiple reasons, one being the length of time that he can safely use it. He has been riding in his Marathon for almost 4 years now. He was 8 pounds and 21 inches when he was born and that is the only car seat we have used in my car. He is now about 48 pounds and 43 inches.

When I found out I was pregnant with Mayer, there was no question in my mind that I wanted the exact same car seat for him. They are big and take up a lot of room, especially with two, but I love the safety features of Britax car seats. Michael chose cheaper car seats for both boys in the truck and it is visibly noticeable. There isn't near as much padding as the Britax either, so they can't be that comfortable.
Tate reminded me last week that when he turns 4 he can ride in a booster seat. He will turn 4 on August 18. I was really hoping to put it off, but he seemed pretty excited about it. According to the range and Britax's "Fit My Child" guide, Tate should be able to use his Marathon for a little longer without any problems. I also read their "Booster Seat Basics" and I will need to keep a close eye on a few details, especially the shoulder harnesses. Now I need to check the car seat he uses in Michael's patrol car and truck to make sure he is still okay in them. I'm going to try to hold him off a little longer, at least in my car;  however, based on his comments about needing a booster seat, he may not be willing to wait until he outgrows his car seat. I guess if he is meant to have one early, he will win the Britax Frontier giveaway from Happily Domestic! :)

 

Even if he doesn't, Britax will my choice for an "upgrade."
