Superhero Halloween: Robin

Right now I have two superhero-crazy boys at home. According to Tate, everyone with a cape is a superhero. Even though my knowledge of superheroes is very limited, I do know that isn't true. The Batman TV series and movie from the '60's is about the only knowledge/ reference I have. Lucky for me, Mayer's favorite is Batman.
Since everyone thinks it is so cute (because it IS) when he says, "Batman," he is going to be the original Robin (as portrayed by Burt Ward) for Halloween.See for yourself how cute he is...

Told you it was adorable! Tate is going to be Batman (as portrayed by Adam West). We are trying to teach Mayer to say "Holy smokes, Batman!" because that would just be awesome!
On October 27, we are going to participate in our 2nd 5K as a family. It's "Trail and Treat" and there is a costume contest. I can't decide if I am going as Batgirl (Yvonne Craig) or Catwoman (Lee Meriwether). Since I am planning on making as much of our costumes as I can, I am leaning towards Catwoman. It would be so much easier! Hopefully we can convince Michael to go as Commissioner Gordon, Chief O'Hara or Alfred, the butler because I'm pretty sure we won't be able to get him to dress up as any of the villains!
Inspiration for Robin:
For my version I loosely followed this tutorial. I knew Robin's cape had to have a collar, plus I already had a yellow button down shirt.
The cape in the tutorial had more panels because she used the sleeves. My superhero is small, so I didn't bother trying to add them. I also didn't put anything on the back.
I should have cut a little more length off because my Robin is so small. It sure didn't stop him from shouting "BAT-MAN!" and running in circles around the living room as soon as I put it on him! His cape isn't shiny like the one in the picture, but since a friend gave me the shirt, the cost was ZERO!
Robin also has some homemade "boots" too.
OK, so really his slippers just got a makeover with felt slipcovers.
The slippers were hand-me-downs from Tate, so the cost of Robin's costume, so far, is just two pieces of felt for a total of $0.46! I will post more of Robin's costume and also Batman's as I finish each project.
