The city of Hutchinson has a Downtown Revitalization Project. They have done a great job developing and promoting downtown. I guess our business is on the wrong side of the tracks to qualify. All of the beautification literally seems to stop at the railroad tracks. Beyond that, a lot of the buildings on Main Street look run down and trashy. We have a beautiful city park at the end of Main Street that houses the zoo, a golf course and a fabulous pool. Unfortunately to get there, you have to travel through the worst part of town. The representative from the Heritage District said they were trying to change the image on the south side of the tracks. After we received the planter, I never heard any more about their plans or anything from their representatives.
Last year for Administrative Professional's Day and Earth Day, my brother got me a bunch of flowers to put in the planter. We also made a bunch of sunflowers with the letter "H" in them for the city as part of the downtown beautification. We had some extra, so we screwed this on the front of our planter.
Earlier this week, I noticed a ton of trash in it. So I cleaned it out, along with all the dead plants from last year to get it ready for the new plants. Earth Day (Day 112) was rainy here, but I thought I might be able to get the plants in anyway. When I went to check the soil, this is what I found:
Someone randomly planted our planter! I have no idea who it was. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate it, but I was looking forward to doing it myself. I'm not the best gardener, but I do enjoy it. Now here my poor plants set awaiting for a new planter:
Thank you to the mysterious planter!

you should call and see if you can get another planter for your other plants!

That's cool that they did that but now you have to go buy another planter! I have flowers to plant but have never grown anything so I'm sorta scared!
