Spring on the farm

Two weekends ago (Days 107 and 108), we went out to my Mamaw and Papaw's farm. Tate absolutely loves it out there! There was so much going on with the animals. The cows were calving and the sheep were lambing. We had to go out to check both several times a day and Tate was more than happy to help. While we were counting, he was too or should I say, "two, two, two!"

The sheep are pinned right behind the house. In the evenings, they are so much fun to watch. They test out their legs by racing each other and jumping around. After dinner, Tate and Mamaw went out on the porch to watch. He would get excited when they would do something. Then he would turn around to see if we were all watching too.

We went out to the pasture with Papaw to check the cattle too. There were at least six calves born while we were there. We watched three different times as the calf learned to stand on its own. Tate wasn't so sure when they would start moo-ing.
Tate wore Papaw's shirt Sunday afternoon. It got a little chilly while we were out supervising work on the brooder house. We didn't get to see any chicks or baby guineas because they were set to arrive after we left- mail order birds! We are going to have to make a special trip back out there to see them.
Tate loved walking around the chicken coop saying, "bowk, bowk." He even went with me to check for eggs. We both got a little scared when the hen flew off her nest squwaking! We found two eggs and he carried them back to the house. Only one egg made it back in tact. He didn't want Mamaw to take his egg either. He wanted to keep carrying it around. Life on the farm is definitly interesting with a busy toddler!
