Day 1: Colorado Trip 2010

I have too many pictures to do this all in one post!

Day 1: Michael,Tate and I arrived in the Wahatoya Canyon at 6 AM MST on Saturday, May 29. It is an eight hour trip from our house. Since we left after 11 PM CST on Friday night, we were able to make really good time. The only stop we made was in Lamar to get gas.

Heading to Ryus Avenue Bakery

They are the 5th generation from our family to visit La Veta and the family cabin.

The kids (4 of them) got bored waiting for all the adults (11 of us) to finish eating and talking, so they went across the street to the park.

Then we had to visit the soda fountain at Charlie's. Of course, Tate couldn't have anything and the look on his face when we gave him an empty cone was awful! Michael came up with putting marshmallows in the cone, but we still felt terrible. They didn't even have any fruit to put in it for him.

Then it was back to the canyon for hiking and fishing. Tate loved throwing things in the stream!

View of the deck from the stream. Originally built in 1939, the deck and other improvements have been made in the last 10 years.

Mimi promised the kids they could help her make Tate some dairy-free brownies. They LOVE baking with her!
