Project 366: Day 3 & 4

Dinner was particularly rough Tuesday night. Both boys were exhausted and in tears. We have been so busy the past few weeks and neither had napped well. Tate was complaining of a headache. He wouldn't eat anything. Poor thing just sat there and cried. I finally got him to eat applesauce so the ibuprofen didn't upset his stomach.
Day 3: Tate was asleep before 7.
Any meal with Mayer is difficult and frustrating, but when he is tired it is amplified. He has to be the pickiest, most finicky eater alive! When we were first attempting solids, he gagged on everything. The speech therapist gave us some tools and we finally got him eating baby food. We were persistent and continued to introduce other textures- Cheerios, puffs, yogurt melts, crackers and other finger foods. As he got used to those, we tried to introduce more table foods.
The only way I can get him to try anything new is to pinch his cheeks, to open his mouth and then scrape my finger on the back of his bottom teeth. Sometimes after he tastes it, he will eat it himself, with no other issues. I haven't been successful in getting him to eat any meat. It is a daily struggle to get him to eat anything other than snack food. One thing he never refuses are sweets. One trick is he cannot have any of his preferred foods first. If he does, he will spend the entire meal crying, saying "pweas" and signing "more." That's what happened last night. He wouldn't even eat baby food. (Tips/ tricks for dealing with a food refusing toddler welcomed, PLEASE!!)
Day 3: Mayer was also asleep by 7.
One of Tate's favorite Christmas presents is his Twilight Turtle. Santa brought both boys one for their rooms. Wednesday morning, I was greeted by Tate using his turtle as a flashlight. We were snuggling in my bed looking at the stars, when Mayer woke up having an asthma attack. Tate picked up Mayer's turtle and we went back to my bed. They looked so cute with stars illuminated on their faces! Unfortunately, my phone doesn't show it, but the pictures still look kind of cool.

Day 4: Starry blue sunrise
I was thankful for both boys waking up in better moods (despite Mayer waking up coughing and struggling to breathe and Tate being awake for quite a while in the early morning hours before going back to sleep with Daddy in his bed).
