Reusing Old T-shirts

Since I have lost roughly 25 pounds on Weight Watchers, I have also lost most of the clothes in my closet and dresser. Most of my former wardrobe is in a giant trash sack on my bedroom floor waiting for this spring's garage sale. I have purchased some new jeans and cute tops, but replacing a wardrobe can get expensive.
While I was searching for t-shirt dress ideas on Pinterest, I came across some other ideas to help fill the empty hangers and empty drawers without spending any money. How can you beat that?! So I dug through the bag and pulled out a bunch of my old shirts. I'm sorry I didn't make any pictorials as I went because side-by-side before and after pictures would have been really cool to see! I was too excited to get started.
My favorite tutorial was making a fitted t-shirt. It was so simple and I love that she even says, "this is not rocket science." Since I like a longer length, I didn't mess with the hem. Basically, I was just taking in the sides and trimming up the sleeves. I didn't use the iron at all. Once I figure out the tension settings on my serger, I will probably go back and serge the seams. Until then, I am still wearing it!
The first shirt I chose, I bought to wear on KU game days when I was pregnant with Mayer. The tag says extra large, but the new size is a medium! I didn't do a very good job lining up the stripes on the sleeves, but seriously, who is really going to notice that detail?
I also found a tutorial to make a pair of yoga capri pants out of an old t-shirt. I like this particular one because it doesn't have you cutting through the middle of the design. Michael cleaned out his closet too and added to my garage sale sack. So I pulled one of his old XL shirts for this project. It worked out perfectly because the only part I didn't use was the neck! It has some random puckers pleats because the waistband measurement fits my waist and the opening was significantly larger. Since the sleeves fit my waistline, I didn't need to add a drawstring, which I had considered when I first started.
I have several more t-shirt pulled from the garage sale sack and more projects pinned on Pinterest. Next on my list are some pull-up cloth trainers for Tate to wear at nap and nighttime. I will be taking pictures along the way. I have a couple different versions to try and it will definitely be a trial and error. He's usually a pretty heavy wetter, so the challenge will be getting enough absorbency for nighttime. I will test them before I post.
