Day 42: Hard Hat Required
On Sunday, we took a family field trip to the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center. We are sooooo incredibly lucky to have this as a local resource, a Smithsonian Affiliated Museum right in our own backyard!
Our tour guide
Mayer tipping the scales...
at 300 pounds! What a heavy weight... on the sun, lol!
Mars Rover
Tate showing Mayer and me how to drive the Mars Rover.
Daddy's infrared image.
Tate's infrared image.
Ejection seat!
"Mayer, this is where the astronaut's poop goes."
Michael Collins' Apollo 11 space suit... Tate's favorite mission to talk about, although the Liberty Bell 7 (also at the Cosmosphere) is a close second.
Moon Rock from Apollo 11
"I have to practice Mission Control because it might be too scary to go into space."
"Look at this video, Mayer. It's about Apollo 11."
Apollo 13 exhibit with Command Module, Odyssey
Of course the boys had to sit on the space toilet.
The picture doesn't do it justice, but the panels on the International Space Station model are so pretty. I'm still trying to figure out all the features on my new camera to get the best picture.
Nothing better than having family fun and learning at the same time!
