Sweater Refashion #2

Before Christmas, I was trying to come up with something to make my Mamaw. I decided on an infinity scarf. I loved the fabric here, but wanted to use something upcycled rather than buying new. Mamaw had given my mom a cashmere sweater set to refashion because it had moth holes in it. My mom graciously gave it to me (though she would later claim I stole it) to refashion. The shell and cardigan led to several great refashions (which is why my mom wishes she hadn't given it to me).

I searched for a way to repair moth holes and I found a good tutorial. My mom has felting needles, but I was anxious to get started before I had them.

Instead, used a piece of scrap and used the darn stitch on my machine. In hindsight, I should have stitched the same way as the knitted pattern. Thankfully the spots weren't obvious once I finished the scarf.

I used the buttons on the cardigan as an extra embellishment. I forgot to take a picture of the finished product! I will have to get one next time I visit.

I also made her a matching hat, which was super warm, and I wanted to keep it! Luckily, I had enough leftover fabric to make one for myself.

I originally made myself a hat too for when I run. I got too hot wearing it, so I cut off the top to make it an ear warmer headband instead.
I also made some leg warmers. I wear them under my jeans all the time... with boots, my Toms, ballet flats and even tennis shoes. They are Fab.U.Lous. Even after 4 projects, I still have some good scraps left for some other projects.
