Wordy Wednesday: Space Out Saturdays

It's no secret that the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center is one of our favorite local places. On the 4th Saturday of the month, they have "Space Out Saturday," with special activities just for kids/ families. They have partnered with our local PBS station and this month, the Cat in the Hat came for a visit.

Mayer loved him!
(BTW- that is the "cheese" face; he isn't crying.)

At first, this was as close as I could get Tate.

The  learning topic this month was the moon.

Oreos were the teaching tools for the phases of the moon.

They got to see a demonstration on how craters were made on the moon's surface.

Then they got to make their own moon with craters out of clay.

Later, during story time with Aunt Amy, the Cat in the Hat came back and this time, Tate was brave enough to go over without mommy.

He was pretty proud of himself. (And I was too!)

After the stories, Aunt Amy had a stacking game. Tate was pretty proud that he was able to hold 10 plates and cups before they dropped. It was higher than a lot of the older kids, but he had an advantage... it is something that he has practiced in Aunt Amy's office at the library. :)
Next month, Sid the Science kid will be visiting, which Tate is excited about. Mayer got excited when he heard Curious George is supposed to be there in May!
